This beautiful anodized aluminum Tzedakah (charity) box has a cylinder shape and is formed by 3 colored rings . One blue, one orange and one fuchsia. The cover of the tzedakah box where there is the slot to insert the coins is light blue. The box features the word in Hebrew Tzedakah, meaning in English Charity. In Judaism, the belief in “Tzedakah,” unlike philanthropy or charity, which is completely voluntary, is a religious obligation, which must be performed regardless of financial standing, even by the poor. The most common way to engage in Tzedakah is to give of one’s money to the needy. To achieve this end, many have Tzedakah boxes in their home and upon filling the box, the money is donated to the needy or to an organization that helps those in need. Artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem.
