Orit Martin

Orit Martin is an Israeli artist. her paintings provide a new dimension to Jewish contemporary art.
The paintings address the relationships and linkages among opposites in our experience:
the transitory and the eternal, the spiritual and the concrete, the tangible and the abstract, Heaven and earth, the digital pixel and the stroke of the brush, the figurative and the abstract.
Martin draws inspiration for her art from the Kabbalah, from the Zohar, from Chasidic texts, and from Jewish motifs. Her art, however, has a universal character.

Her art deals with existential topics such as the connection between soul and body, man’s place in the universe, and man’s facing the world and the Creator.

In Jewish art there has always been a concern to endow spiritual concepts with a concrete expression, and in this difficulty Orit Martin perceives a creative challenge.
The challenge is to address wholly abstract matters using tangible means without falling into well-worn traditional clichés.

Jewish art, as it is expressed in Orit Martin’s drawings, breaks through the boundaries of Judaica ornamental art towards a stand of self reflection and advanced awareness.

The digitally processed art is printed on quality canvas, limited and numbered edition to 150 copies.
